EMU OIL- a summary of an  article from the Herbal Healer academy news-summer 05

Some of the interesting properties of emu oil include it being highly penetrating. It can penetrate the stratum barrier of the skin. Chiropractors & massage therapists use the oil for its ability to penetrate and get into the muscles to relax them so they can be worked on. It is anti-inflammatory.  And it has been show to reduce pain, swelling & stiffness in joints and to reduce recent bruising and muscle pain and ease sports related muscle strains as well.

It is bacteriostatic which means it grows no bacterial organisms. The oil is a low potential for irritation of the skin and shows to have almost no side effects. Emu oil does not clog up pores and does not cause pimples when used. It is a good moisturizer which adds to its protective ability & promotes anti-aging of the skin.

It is awesome to use as a fast healer of chronic dry skin and does need to be applied twice a day after a shower or bath too. It is also known to help in arthritis, muscle and joint paind and swelling. It was also studied out at the Burn Center at Texas Tech University for its use as a adequate lubrication and aid in burn healing process. This can be used with care on children and animals also. Some individuals have used it for psoriasis, excema, skin 3wounds, rashes, chronic dry skin and joint relief.

Our items that can have the emu oil included in it are our "Goat's Milk lotions"-"Whipped body lotion & Body Butters"

Varicose veins are swollen, bulging and twisted blood vessles. They can also make your legs throb and feel heavy. Legs and feet might swell slightly and overlying skin may itch. Most common in the legs but they can occur anywhere on the body. Prevention can help keep the problem from occuring and many treatments exist and the use of herbs can help too. Anything that increases pressure in the legs raises the risk of developing varicose veins such as obesity, pregnancy and activities that involve prolonged standing or heavy lifting.  A few herbs that help include-Horse Chestnut(used in Germany a lot) to help counter inflammation, tone and protect veins, block enzymes that break down the supporting tissue. This is not recommended for people with liver or kidney disease. And do not take this herb in combo with blood thinners.  Gotu Kola herb enhances the integrity of blood vessels & speeds wound healing. . Butcher's Broom herb is a yellow flowered shrub that is anti-inflammatory and astringent properties to tone the veins. It also inhibits enzymes that degrade structural components of veins and render small vessels  less permeable.  Which Hazel is rich in anti-inflammatory substances and tannins.
